To Captain Peter
at his 10th Sailor anniversary:

since his first concert with Sailor on 01 June 1996
in Esbjerg, Denmark:

Well, in Denmark, UK, Germany, and sometimes Holland
We have often seen him - captain Peter
Great guy, marvellous! - That's all that we can say
Just every single time we meet him
Who makes a Sailor show so funny?
And always sunny, at every day?
Pete, Pete, Pete -- Pete, Pete, Pete
Well, ever since the first concert, he has been special
And always really entertaining
On stage and after shows, he's always there for us
That is why we all really love him
Although he started as the new guy
And was a bit shy, he's just impressive...

So hop on, the world is swinging
Don't sit, get up and dance
Enjoy the songs of captain Pete, Pete, Pete
Watch out, the audience's swinging
Due to his dazzling charm
Get up and don't miss captain Pete
But do rush, make sure that you see it
You won't believe it, when he's on stage...

Tuneful oceans, fans full of emotions
At every show all over Europe
And next to him, yes it's true, 3 more great Sailors there for you
We all hope that the sailing won't stop
They've got that old-fashioned music
But with a new kick, in their own way...

So hop on, the world is swinging
Don't sit, get up and dance
Enjoy the songs of captain Pete, Pete, Pete
Watch out, the audience's swinging
Due to his dazzling charm
Get up and don't miss captain Pete
But do rush, make sure that you see it
You won't believe it, at that certain
Moment when they draw back the curtain
So hop on, the world is swinging
Don't sit, get up and dance
Enjoy the songs of captain Pete

Pete, Pete, Pete
Pete, Pete, Pete
Here's to captain Pete...

Happy 10th Sailor anniversary!!!

Love,

The first time I saw Pete live was in Tring in 2004.
I hadn't seen Sailor live since 1977!
I had recently rediscovered them, and wasn't sure what Georg's 'replacement' would be like.
Well, I had nothing to worry about.
As soon as he came on stage and started singing 'Sailor', I was transported back to 1977.
I really couldn't believe my eyes and ears!
He did (and does) an excellent job as Sailor's front man.
Great voice, great guitar playing, and very handsome in his leathers! I shall cherish my photos I have with him from the various concerts I have been to since Tring.
Keep up the good work Pete and happy anniversary!! Looking forward to the next 10 years!!

Love you lots.

Can it really be 10 years since Captain Pete donned his pirate coat and took the helm? What a decade!
I think all fans of Sailor will agree that we’ve been very lucky indeed to have such a talented and dedicated musician helping to keep the band afloat from one century to the next!
As well as his skill and versatility as a singer and guitarist, he’s also a great songwriter and a thoroughly nice bloke to boot! Let’s drink to the next 10 years!

Long live Captain Pete!

Linda

Now it's ten years since captain Georg who devised, created and steered the Sailor ship, disembarked to pay off and start new projects. Georg is an artist who always expects a constant new inspiration from his projects to enhance them and be content as an artist. After the many years with Sailor, this project was exhausted for him. Surely the music from DATA and Noir could also have been played by Sailor, but the band would have lost it's uniqueness, the original concept would have been diluted, Georg just doesn't do anything like this. Contently looking back at his achievements, although there was and is still a lot of creative potential inside him, a Georg Kajanus can't do that, he wants to give himself but also the people more than just being on stage with his 12-String-Ovation-Guitar or the Charango and play the well-known songs. I can understand it and am therefore not angry on Georg, on the contrary, I am really anxious to hearing "People Industrie", a very sociocritical and high-levelled creation, a real criticism of society that I absolutely agree to.
But what was to happen to the ship with the abandoned bridge, should it be wrecked just because the former captain had no need for it any more? The crew, consisting of Phil, Henry and Grant, still had so much fun working on this ship that was and still is the dream-ship fpr so many fans. But what is a ship withou a captain?
Fortunately, rescue came with Peter, who immediately and obviously enjoyed being aborad with Sailor and still does, who loved the interaction with the fans, who is never unfriendly or exclusive and whom we all love very much now, although it was a bit difficult to stand for me when I saw Sailor at an NDR television show without Georg then. By contrast to Georg, Peter is less the "master of ceremonies", more a teamplayer, so that the other band members, especially Phil, now get the possibility to play a bigger part in Sailor and add their creative stamps to Sailor. That's how fresh wind came in the sails of Sailor, firstly thanks to the new captain and secondly because of the different, more democratic team spirit, so that Phil can now include his creative talent, and maybe we can also hear more from Henry, who, after a brief guest performance of Anthony England and the excellent work of Rob Alderton, is now back aboard. Rob gave the Nickelodeon its original sound again and resurrected the stage set of the 70s and is still very popular with the fans of Sailor, who watched the change from Rob to Henry with one laughing and one crying eye. He left us "The Harbour Bar Bell", the wish to the current Sailor crew: Get the song into your live-sets as a standard, it's a very good song and should also be a thankyou for Rob.

Ten years is a long time, but they also passed quite quickly. The Sailor dream-ship sailed for another ten years now, while other "stars" came and sank again. What do I wish for from Peter in the future? Put the e-guitar in the cupboard, buy a nice 12-String Ovation guitar and also a Charango - I saw these at an online-auction for little money. In the 70s Sailor differed from other bands because of the non-use of electric guitars, that's how it should be again.
Now I don't only wish Peter all the best for the next ten years with Sailor, but also Phil, Henry and Grant. And if there should be any trouble within the band, remember: we are waiting for you and also for a new album with unique new original Sailor material.

Keep on Sailing

For me being in Australia I had never heard nor seen Peter Lincoln perform with Sailor until I got the "Pirate Copy DVD".
I didn't quite know what to expect but after just viewing the DVD once I was totally blown away with his performance as the Sailor captain.
Great voice, energetic & enthusiastic on stage makes him the perfect frontman for Sailor in my opinion.
His lead vocal on Karma Chameleon on the Buried Treasure CD is another highlight that stands out for me as he sings the song beautifully.
Nickelodeon Nights & Office Hours from Buried Treasure cement Peters position as the right choice in Sailor as the successor to Georg.
Well done Pete for 10 years as the Captain and for keeping the music of Sailor fresh and alive.

Geoff Brown, Australia

I have only seen Sailor perform twice with Peter as Captain.
I hope to be there for the Xmas show this year for my third concert. I am very passionate about Sailor's music and have to thank Peter for keeping the ship afloat...
It's hard to be the front man, keeping the songs fresh and keeps the fans wanting more!
Here's to another 10 years steering the ship!
Hope to see you all soon.

I would like to add that having seen Pete play in London in December 2005 provided me with a huge inspiration in my lead role in Sailor - The Musical Journey. His style, stance and lovely manner when we met him after the gig was a joy.
My journey in the role of Robert Leon has taken me from the early days of the band, right up to the present day - with an uncompromising attention to detail and a style which is quite unique in the music industry.
I am sure you will find a little bit of Pete in my character when you see it (perhaps an anchor on the cheek in my final scene!!!)

Best of regards to you all!!

The Geordie Lad (posted at the Forum by ???)

Searching for a Captain was our Grant , now he's the drummer,
A band without a singer eh? that's what you call a bummer,
Overcome with joy one day, Grant sees the Captain's seat.
So who's this chap who's new on board? - a Geordie lad called Pete.

Pete and Grant sail off one day to Henry Marsh and Phil,
The four of them together eh, that's what you call a thrill.
From Girls Girls Girls to Vera Cruz and now to Buried Treasure,
Listenin' to the four of them is pure ecstatic pleasure.

So what's he like this Geordie lad? - he likes to play guitar,
He also likes to have a drink, he's usually at the bar,
From solo acts to bands and crews - the man's been at it years,
And yes he sounds like Captain Georg, but also Britney Spears.

The Sailor crew's on settled seas, they really are on song,
But Captain Pete, there is one thing you're always getting wrong,
You're settled in, you're at the wheel, you're happily on board,
How many years now must we wait before your solo record?

From Germany to Austria , that's just to name a few,
He's been so many places, we're sure he's been near you.
So all in all, we'd like to say he's not that bad a fellow,
And wish him luck in all he does with Sailor Marinero.
